Jamaica Recap

Jamaica was amazing! Beautiful island, weather was 100% sunny all week and 90 degrees. Couldn't complain one bit!
I'll spare all the details because honestly, we did nothing. No really. Nothing. That was the plan. No excursions, no sports, nothing. And it was awesome. We needed an escape from all the craziness back home. Basically spent our days sunbathing, going in the water, drinking and eating! And I only gained two pounds! Woot woot!

I recommend Sandals Royal Caribbean. It's the calmer of the Sandals in JA. We went to Sandals Montego Bay resort for dinner one night and it was definitely loud and a younger crowd. Glad we chose SRC because we aren't really into the party scene anymore. And again, our vacay goal was to relax...and try to produce baby m...

Oh yeah...that didnt happen. Like clockwork AF showed up last Thursday. What a let down. I was pretty upset/angry about it as some of you know the emotional rollarcoster you go on when trying. But what could I do? I cannot control this and it sucks.

AND it seems like everyone is getting pregnant right now. SERIOUSLY...I hate all of you. No, I really don't hate you...I envy you. But my bff always says that soon it will be me announcing the news and someone else out there will feel the way I did.

So, I'm taking it realy seriously now. I'm charting my temp, checking out the CM, diligently taking the prenatals, and OV testing every morning. I should O between tomorrow and Monday but we will see. My temp has been consistent so far. I so wanted a July baby, but I'm hoping August is our month!!!

I so have babies on the brain too. Anything baby makes me so emotional. Example: I was watching A Baby Story on TLC today, I literally teared up, and no not because they had a baby but I was envisioning my delivery and how hubbs and I would react. Ugh.

This year we are hosting Turkey day at our house. I know, what are we getting ourselves into? Well, I'm excited. So hopefully with all the prep and planning, I wont have time to stress about getting pregnant. By the way, babycenter.com is my addiciion and an unhealthy one I must say. During the dreaded tww, I think EVERY little poke, cramp etc could be a sign. Well I made a pact with myself that I WILL NOT go on BC for the rest of the month.

I'm done ranting (pg) and raving (jamaica) for today....my blog skills suck so I probably wont get another post up until Turkey day...

Gotta get caught up!

Call me a blog procrastinator! I think about writing on here then somehow something else comes up. My life isn't crazy interesting but it's time to get back on the ball with this!

First things first....My birthday! I seriously have the best husband in the world, no really. My birthday was 9/18, which yay it fell on a Saturday! So the plan was to go to a winery that night with my friends and hubbs of course! So during the day, mom and I went out to do some bday shopping! I got a cute pair of heels and knee lenght boots! My mom drove and seemed like she was in a hurry so when we got back to the house, hubbs was at the door and walked me in the backyard and SURPRISE! My dad, hubbs parents/grandparents and my friends were all there! It was awesome! I was a little ticked because I had my hair pulled back and ZERO makeup on! So we grilled out I opened gifts, and hung out until it was time to go drink some wine. This place was gorgeous, we had an awesome time! We all came back to our house and all I will say is things got out of control...good out of control though, we had a pretty fun time and I paid for it dearly the next day! I have som pretty awesome friends!

The past two weekends, we've been babysitting! The first week of October, my bff and her hubbs went to Vegas for her bday/a wedding so we took her 15 month old son! We've watched her daughter before (go back a few posts) who is now three. We had a good time! Then the following weekend, we watched her oldest son who is five. He was so freaking easy!!! It def helped us see what its like at all the different ages!

Today we went pumpkin picking with my best friend and her family. It has become a tradition and I reallllly hope next year we have a little one to bring with us! It was a great day to go because it's gorgeous out! Always a fun time!

A week from today we will be sitting on the beach, sipping a cocktail enjoying the 90 degree weather in JAMAICA!!!!! OMG I cannot explain how much in need we are to have a break from life! Hubbs has been working 50/60 hours aweek and weekends have been crazy busy!

As I said before, this is our babymoon. Well, was until AF came four days early which screwed everything up from that prespective. After being pretty pissed off I decided that I'm done stressing over it. The next two weeks are free game (sorry if this is TMI) for hubbs and I. If it's meant to happen then it will for us this cycle.

Lastly - I set a goal in August that I would lose 20 lbs by the time of our trip. I have said over and over again that I would get in shape and always lost motivation to do so. Not this time. Ladies and gentlemen....to date...I've lost 16lbs!!! Woot woot! The pesky last four and I have been fighting for the past week! Even if I dont hot the actual goal I am so proud of myself! I love how i feel and look!!! I'm probably a little smaller and possibly toner then I was for our wedding too!!! No secret to how I lost: I stopped drinking soda, water mainly, green tea after dinner, smaller portions, healthier options, and I cut out snacking. And I barely drink anymore lol, which is a problem bc when I do, I am such a lightweight now.

The weight loss goal was for Jamaica but I also wanted to be in better shape for when we started trying again. Plus I just felt so gross!

Anyways - I'll leave ya with pictures! And I'll post when we get back from Jamaica!!!

M.I.A. Blogger...No Bueno!!!!!

Whoa. Hello blog, good to see you again.

Life has been anything but normal the past few months. Much to blog about very little time. Where do I begin???

The New Job: I have to admit, I was pretty intimated my first week there. It was like learning everything all over again.....and then some. But I really am paranoid by nature and always nervous I won't complete the task at hand. Turns out, after a month of training with the woman I replace (who has become such a dear friend!) I was good to go. I love that I get to actually use my brain everyday and need to solve issues rather then have the same things thrown at me everyday. I'm learning all the aspects of HR...not just the recruiting like I was in previous position. And its great to be valued and not treated like a kid.

Our FIRST Wedding Anniversary: I still can't believe it's been over a year. Our anniversary was on 7/25 so we headed up to Hubb's aunt & uncles beach house in Narragnsent RI for the weekend. This house is gorgeous, totally redone! We spent Friday and Saturday there. Friday we got in late, but enjoyed some tv and wine. Saturday we went to Crazy Burger for breakfast...funny right?? But wow the food was excellent! The biggest and fluffiest omlet I've ever seen! We headed back to the house and hung out at the beach for the remainder of the day. For dinner, we headed to Trio which was fabulous! Sunday was our actual anniversary so we left RI around 10am and made a quick stop at the outlets so I could purchase a new Coach bag =). For dinner, we headed to this awesome steak house in our town, both of us ordered Filet Mignon...mmmmmmm. After dinner, we headed home, and took out the recreated wedding cake! Lit the wedding candle and dug in! Hubbs and I just exchanged cards this year but we also had homework to do. Hubbs had to get me flowers (which he did!) and we had to write love letters to each other, but we cannot open them until our second anniversary. Overall we had an amazing first anniversary.

Tragedy: My life is never not chaotic. Oh the stories I could tell you about the things that I have been through..I choose not to because those things do not define me and they've only made me a stronger person. But on August 11th, my stepfather passed away. It was somewhat sudden. My stepfather and I weren't extremely close, lots of issues there but he was only 57 years old which is still so young. My mom of course was a mess, and still is although she doesnt show it. Another reason I love where I work...I was out from the time he went into the hospital until after the services so a little over a week and they didnt bat an eye. They were so supportive and it was nice to have that. The weeks after his passing were stressful on me because of my mom, but everyday she is doing a little better. I couldnt imagine losing my husband. I can't imagine what she is going through.

My 27th Birthday: is next SATURDAY! Ahhh another year older! We are heading up to a Vineyard for the big day and I can't wait to see all of my girls!!!I just wanted to something laid back..birthday's as you get older seem to lose their luster. I probably would have been fine doing nothing but I figure once we have kids then birthday celebrations officially stop =).

Our Babymoon Vacation: The summer has been a semi stressful time for us we definetly were looking for a break. We went to Florida in April which is always nice, but it's a fmaily trip. We wanted to go away for some "Us" time. We thought about another cruise but opted not to. Instead we are off to Jamaica, Sandals Royal Carribean for six glorious nights in October! OMG cannot wait! Why would this be babymoon? It's the week (knock on wood) that I will O'ving and the month we are picking up on trying for Baby M.

Operation Slim Down: I've lost 10 lbs and hoping to lose another 10 before this vacation. I let myself go after the wedding and the past couple months have been disgusted when stepping on the scale. I needed something to motivate me so here it is! Jamaica!

Babymakin': Like I mentioned way back in June, babymaking was hold for a few months until I get settled in the new job. Well the two of us are beyond antsy and truly hope we leave Jamaica with more then a sweet tan! My cycle is totally back to normal so I think anything to do with the Pill has completely left my body. It better, its been nine months since I've gone off it!

I think that makes me pretty much up to date with the major things going on in my life. I shall leave you with some pictures of all the fun things that happened this summer! It was a great one!!!!!!

Way to slack...

On this blog!

My days of being "umeployed" went by so fast I never had a chance to update this. Now, I am full on in the new role with new hours so the last thing I want to do is type on this thing.

Break it down for you:

Wednesday: my bff and her adorable kids came over to hang. Always fun, went up to the farm for some ice cream, took some pics with the animals
Thursday: bff's oldest grauated from pre-k, I was invited to it. Went out to eat after with them, ran a ton of errands
Friday: Errands all day, accomplished 99.8% of what I wanted to with my time off.
Saturday: errands with the hubbs, went and saw hubbs grandparents, came home and had ritas, smores, some fire and played apples to apples with Hubbs and C.
Sunday: Bff's youngest's first birthday party.

Phew.

So I started the new job on Monday, learning so much, def a little intimated but I know I will do well!

I am done for now. I will leave you with some pictures!

"Good Luck- we will miss you"

Today was my last day at the place I called my work home for the past two years. It was bittersweet, and I think I was sadder yesterday than I was today. Or it just hasn't sunk in yet. It was an uneventful day, people were coming up saying goodbye and then my orginal group (re-org split some of us up) took me out to lunch and gave me a leather pandora bracelet and two charms as a goodbye gift. I actually already have a Pandora bracelet but leather one is really nice, and its good to have more than one! More reason to buy more charms =).

I left around 3p today, thinking about how I didnt really get to say goodbye to a lot of people. It seemed like it was a busy day in general and in a way I am kind of glad because it's just the same thing recycled...'good luck, we will miss you' ..yeah but we didnt work together SO how are you going to miss me?? Whatever I am not big on the goodbyes.

So I am officially on my mini-I guess you can call it- unemployed vacay until Monday. I am pretty excited to have some time off before I start the new job. Hopefully I can blog a little bit more if I do anything worth blogging about!

It's crazy how much things have changed in a matter of a year...no make that months! If you told me this time last year that I would be moving on, I would have laughed. Then again I was in full on my wedding is in a month mode too so a new job was the last thing on my mind!

Here's some pictures from the lunch today, wish I got a few more or at least a group shot, the group is a little weird now, so many changes so maybe thats why?? But I will really miss them, they were a great group of people to work with.

I will def. miss her!!!! Ms.S and I

Tornado Warning...Weekend Wrap-Up..Oh My!

It's been disgustingly hot all weekend, and for the second day in a row we have a tornado warning. Joy. I love the summer heat but the humidity NEEDS TO GO!

Friday some of my coworkers took me out for lunch at this realllllly good Mexican restaurant. It was nice to get out with them, and of course everyone says, "we should do this more often" welllllll good thing we thought about this THREE days before I leave!!! I had a nice time and realize more and more that my last day is approaching, and I feel a little melancholy about it.

Saturday we FINALLY bought the island for the kitchen. I LOVE IT! We really lucked out with the size of the kitchen overall and it really doesn't take up too much room. So after we put everything together, we cooked out on the grill. Steak, baked potatoes, corn on the cob and huge salad! It was the first grilled steak of the season, and oh-m-gee it was tasty!!! The weather was starting to act up so we decided to make some smores quick and mmmmmm!!! My good friend T stopped over for some wine and a game of Apples-to-Apples, although its not as much fun to play with three people. Fun game, if you've never played you should!

I received all my info regarding, benefits, 401k, pension etc from the new company. And I found EXTREMELY good news...they will pay 100% for me to go back to school for my MASTERS!!! WHOO HOO!!! I am so excited!!! Yeah who really gets excited about school right??? BUT I knew that I would go back at some point because its super important to me, and for my families future.

So anyways, hopefully this week I will FINALLY get a blog post of before and afters of the kitchen. I will have some extra down time so no excuses. I'll leave ya with some pictures from the weekend!

Stay Safe Nutmeg Staters!

Memorial Day Weekend: Recap

Oh how the long weekend just seemed to come and go too quickly!!! I hope everyone had a fantastic Memorial Day weekend and if you're in the CT area took advantage of the gorgeous weather we are finally having!!!!

Friday night as planned, we headed down to a restuarant close to work to hang with some of my coworkers. Of course half of them didnt show (I hate when pple say they will show and dont...if you dont want to come just say so!) this really cool salsa band started to play around 10p so hubbs and I stuck around just for a little while after that. We were def. a little intimidated by the dance, lets just two left feet!!!

Saturday I had a seriously early hair appt. I was thisssss close to cancelling and rescheduling but I didn't. I signed in sat down and the next thing I know one of the receptionists call me back up, my aunt freaking called the salon on Friday and PAID for my services PLUS paid for a mani/pedi!! This was her "congrats I am so proud of the new job" gift. Holy crap. My hair appts are not cheap and being it was so early (830a) I almost thought it was a joke. I am so grateful to have such an awesome family, I dont think I could thank her enough!

On my way home, of course I called her. And guess what?? I got pulled over for being on the phone!!!! The cop, was super nice which is surprising but at least all I have to do is send in a reciept for a handsfree and that will be the end of it.

After that, I got home and guess who's sick? Hubbs. It took just about a week for him to catch my nasty stomach bug minus the yacking. He ended up having a fever of a 102.7 and I went into full wife mode and became a constant worrier. Every hour after he took the aspirin I checked his temp, woke him up because I worry. He literally slept from 2p-10a the next day.

Although hubbs was sick, my friends birthday celebration was that night, so I did go out for a little while. All I thought about was my poor love sick and I did enjoy myself but it would have been more fun if he was there.

Sunday we layed low around the house, again Hubbs slept for the majority of the day.

Today we headed up to hang with my aunt and did some shopping, I'm thinking Hubbs is starting to feel somewhat better since he just cracked open a Sam Adams.

...So one week from tomorrow will be my last day at work. Crazy. I have a feeling this week is going to fly by. And in a way I want it to, but I also want to enjoy my last week as much as I can. But I am def looking forward to some time off and going on my new journey! I'll leave you all with some pictures!

Memorial Day Madness

Is anyone as excited as I am about this weekend? Probably not for the same reasons but I'm sure everyone can agree their excited for a three day weekend- (sorry if you have to work on Monday, that sucks!)

I am officially feeling 100% better again after the bug attacked me for several days. I came into work late on Wednesday hair a big ole mess, no makeup walk into my mgrs office and she proceeds to ask, 'are you pregnant?" wow, really?? Well, wouldn't that be something if I was, but pretty sure I was just fightin somethin nasty.

Anyways, tonight my work ladies are celebrating me, oh yeah! A bunch of us (including the hubbs) are hitting a restaurant near work for some drinks and some music. The camera will be out in full force! It should be a good time! Then tomorrow night we are heading to downtown New Haven to celebrate my friends birthday. Total sh*tshow for sure!!! Again the camera will be out! Sunday we'll be hanging out with my Aunt and Monday probably getting stuff done around the house!

Tomorrow morning I have a hair appointment. I get bored fast with my hair color. I was going to keep my hair dark for awhile because of us ttc, but now with the new job and waiting a little while I need to some light in my life. I've been checking out some options but I LOVE Ashley Tisdale's hair in this picture:

Her base color seems to be right on target with my base so it would be just a matter of some chunky highlights. We'll see what my hairdresser says. I'm going to keep it long but just have her thin it out a little, my hair is so thick and its gets too heavy after awhile, esp the front.

Well hopefully my next post will be a ton of pictures (I keep saying that) from the weekend and hopefully some awesome new hair!

Hope everyone enjoys the holiday weekend!!!!

Weekend Recap, Stomach Bugs, and Goodbyes

So we had our Housewarming Party this weekend and all went well! We had a ton of food and a ton of family and friends over. I felt like I never had a chance to breathe remember I said I hate being the hostess, I would much rather sit back and enjoy myself.

And then Sunday happened...

I woke up with a pounding headache, now I did drink BUT I wasnt drunk nor did I go to bed drunk. I ended up puking my brains out all day, confined to the couch watching Jersey Shore from start to finish. Sad. I stayed home yesterday since my temp was still high and I really didnt feel 100%. I basically slept on and off all day. I am feeling much better today, hopefully that's the end of it.

I came in to work today to find my manager emailed the entire division about my departure next month, I figured I could be an AW and share the email:

(note: I erased the obvious words/names for privacy reasons!)

Good Morning,

As some of you may have already heard, Sarah has accepted a new position with (NEW COMPANY) in their HR Division in (CITY), our loss is a gift for (NEW COMPANY). Sarah has been a wonderful addition to the Staffing & Recruiting team since joining us in 2008; she was a key contributor in the standardization of the hiring process across the organization in early 2009, the implementation of the e-Recruiting system in late 2009; and supporting the CEO’s Leadership Recognition Program, just to name a few.

Sarah’s last day with us will be Tuesday, June 8th, she wanted to make sure that our summer hiring was completed before she left, quite a testament to Sarah’s character/leadership qualities.

Please join me in thanking Sarah for her support and wishing her well as she moves forward with her career.

:::holds back tears:::

Yes it's feeling real now that I will be leaving here in two weeks. Oh and what made even more difficult for me was my term form came through already!!!! So a bunch of my coworkers are taking me out this Friday night! It's going to be a good weekend!!!!

So I am slowly working on my before and after shots of the house, starting with the kitchen. Eventually I will be on the ball with it!

Going Where The Grass Is (Hopefully) Greener....

So remember when I tried to act slick in my last entry about something major possibly happening in my life?? Okay not so slick except if you're my good friend C who still had no clue what I was talking about (LOVE YOU!) but yes if you figured it out, I went for a job interview.

And they made me an offer...

And yes I accepted!

I'm feeling nervous, excited, anxious....

Dont get me wrong I love where I work now. I work for a bank in Human Resources where my function is recruiting. I went to school for HR I love it. True story: today is my two year anniversary with my current company too. But it was time to move on and further my career. I am still in HR of course, but more diverse where I can learn more about the HR function from A-Z. Plus rumor has it this company pays for school which means I can finally go back for my Masters!

My last day of work is June 8th then I am taking a few days off and reporting to my new position on June 14th. Change is always scary but it's good change that will make us even more finacially stable then we are now. So when we do have a little 'loon we can them everything and more!

So speaking of babies...

Yes, we are putting that on hold just for a couple of months. I need to get into the new company and feel it out. And as my friend K said everything happens for a reason so, maybe I didnt get that BFP a few weeks ago because of this opportunity. Hubbs is completely on board to wait a little while longer as well.

My life is full of excitement right now! Change is in the air!!!

And finally...this Saturday is our housewarming! I will post pictures hopefully Sunday! I am finally getting excited about it and ready to party and hang out with close friends and family!

One more! We painted the kitchen! It looks great ahhh I'll post before and after pics of that as well.

I seriously need to get on the ball with these pictures, it's so sad!

Hmmmm

It's a new week. And yes my last post was mucho depressing. BUT I needed to vent, to feel sorry for myself. I needed a DAY. I got it and now I am moving on....

Life has been SUPER busy! So where to begin...

Saturday Hubbs and I started the fun task of removing the wallpaper in the kitchen. Before we moved in, we removed the wallpaper in the living room and dining room and decided to hold off for a few months before we tackled the kitchen. Removing wallpaper is tiring. It sucks. Our goal is to paint this weekend. I am pretty excited to get it done before our housewarming next week....

Housewarming. I probably should be a little more enthusiatic about it but I'm not. Don't get me wrong, I am really excited to have our family and friends over to hang out and see the progress but being a hostess is such an overwhelming task. Tomorrow night we are heading to BJ's to pick up everything and then some. I cant wait to see what that bill looks like. Thankfully we have relatives who are pitching in and making some things. Here's our "menu" so far for the day:

-My dad's famous baked ziti
-Baked Mac n Cheese (Hubbs SM's recipe)
-Meatballs (ANother one of Hubb's SM's recipes)
-Hot dogs, hamburgers, bratwursts
-Pasta Salad - BF's yummy recipe
-Potato Salad
-Baked Beans
-Tossed Salad
-Dessert
-Chips, dip and other goodies!

I feel like we dont have enough food, BUT I know it's going to be more than enough. Now we just need to focus on cleaning up the house inside and out!

In other news, work has been super crazy for me...in a good way! Between a million meetings, interviews, and just general work the days just fly by! I am really one of those women that want it both ways: a successful career and a family. I don't think I could be a stay at home mom, although it would be awesome. Who knows? Maybe I will change my mind once we have a little bean.

Something else pretty exciting happened this week for me, but I just dont really want to share too much. Basically I was given a great opportunity to meet with some awesome people at a very well known place! Hahaha okay maybe I should just come out and say it but I am sure you can put two and two together. We will see what happens.....

And I wanted to share some pictures from my blackberry BUT my email config is all screwed up so I cant sent any pictures to my email addy. I love my BB and if I was to switch it would probably be to a Droid. The Iphone is cool and all, but I am a devoted Verizon customer.

.....One more thing....could the Hockey Gods PLEASE let the Bruins win game seven tomorrow night against Philly??? Hubbs has been super cranky since Monday's game. (If you dont follow the Bruins or the playoffs, the Bruins were up 3-1 and then Philly won Monday AND last night, so now it's all tied up).

Disappointment

How else can I word it? It's no ones fault.

Yesterday, when I was barely able to open my eyes. I was in denial.

Last night when I got a migraine. I was in denial.

AF arrived this morning. I was in denial.

I still have yet to accept she is here, I keep telling myself that there MAY still be a chance. Why? Because I am in denial.

I cried. Yup, I did. I needed to talk to someone about it and since hubbs was at work already and all I could really do was send him a BBM, I told one of the only coworkers that knows we are ttc. And I cried. I needed to.

I've read about it on blogs and baby boards the disappointment and sadness that women have to go through when TTC. I never really understood but now I do. It doesn't matter if you have been trying for 1 year or 1 month, its heartbreaking.

You put in all the babymakin work, then you deal with the dreaded "two week wait" and in between you think certain "twinges" and "pains" are possible signs.

I know I will be fine and move on from feeling the way I do, because we have time on our side and we will try again in a few weeks. But today I am entitled to be this emotional.

And I am entitled to a nice cold beer which I have been depriving myself from since we got back from Florida.

April just wasn't our month. Maybe May will be....

Hump Day

Geez I feel like I am such a lame blogger lately. BUT if you realized how busy I am at work and preparing for our housewarming, personal email time is few and far between.

Hubbs birthday was Friday so we went and did Hibachi (as planned see last post) and then just hung out at home. That's where we are different. I would call all of my friends to come out and eat and drink but hubbs has never been big into the whole birthday celebrations. Which was nice this time since I am anti-booze (TTC) and it was tough to pass on those saki shots!!!! We picked up hubbs new wedding band too! Fits like a glove!

So Saturday we finally bought a grill! We purchased it from Lowes its a GrillMaster 4 burner grill. I've attached a pic below from the Lowe's website. The sales guy was trying to push a $8000 grill..equipped with a cooler and all. Sweet, but no thanks! So we got home and hubbs was hard at work putting it together. I cant believe we have gone this long without one! And this weekend is supposed to be gorgeous so I cannot wait to grill out all weekend!!!! The one thing missing is a cold beer (blah!)..

On top of all this, we have an addition to the 'Loon household. Alice the cat. Here's the story: Hubbs bro and sis in law had a cat, had to give her to my MIL so she lived there for like six or seven years. MIL moved and couldnt take Alice so gave her back to BIL and SIL. SIL has severe allergies and if no one claimed her then she would be sent to a shelter. I am a SUCKER for animals and so is Hubbs. Now mind you I have two cats, well my dad has held them hostage since I moved out a few years ago, so I felt guilty in a sense to take in another cat when I have two that I miss! But I talked to dad and he basically said that he is not giving them up (i am not complaining they are happy at his house) and that we should take her in. So...Saturday night Alice became a member of our family! She loves to cuddle, she sleeps on our bed every night, and she is just overall a good cat!

Sunday, we went to chruch and had the priest bless hubbs' new ring! He was pretty miserable without the ring on, all he would do is say how it sucks and he feels naked. My brother is still determined to find the ring and claims he will be looking this summer! It would be amazing if he found it but so cool!

So housewarming....we came up with a food list and now hopefully we can recruit some people to help out! I wanted to get the kitchen painted before, but I doubt that will happen. Hopefully we can just work on cleaning up the yard. I plan on taking a trip to Christmas Tree Shoppe (I am obssessed with their stuff!) for more chairs and just to spice up the yard! I know when to bargain shop!!!

So here's the grill:
